An enchanting evening of fundraising and Christmas cheer

On Friday 12th November, we delivered some much-needed Christmas cheer at St James Quarter, with their first Christmas light switch on.

The enchanting evening took saw Deaf Action’s BSL Choir and Youth Club, alongside Cash 4 Kids, hit the big red button to officially bring Christmas to Edinburgh. Our very own signing choir dazzled passers-by with special rendition of ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’ and ‘Santa Claus is coming to town’.

Edinburgh Rock Choir also rang in the special occasion with magical performances, whilst our BSL interpreter ensured it was an inclusive event for the deaf community.

We raised vital funds throughout the night, and will be working with St James Quarter as our charity partner over the next 12 months to raise even more.

Stacy Rowan, Senior Fundraiser, said:

“It was such a magical way to start the Christmas season and kick off our year-long partnership with St James Quarter. We’re beyond pleased that the team at SJQ are making the space accessible to the deaf community. We’ve had a really strong start to our fundraising journey, and we’re sure will continue to be a great partnership going into 2022. Our choir gave a beautiful performance and we couldn’t have been prouder to represent the deaf community that evening.”
