Christmas Lift Appeal: Thank you for helping us reach our target
We’re delighted to share that our Christmas Lift Appeal has now closed, and thanks to the generosity of our community, we successfully raised £13,421.75, the full amount needed to fund a new accessible lift at our historic Albany Street home.
This achievement ensures that Deaf Action’s building remains open, welcoming and accessible to everyone who uses it.
Why this mattered
For generations, our Albany Street building has been a vital hub for the deaf community. From community groups and BSL classes to performances, events and quiet moments in the Brennan Library, it’s a place for connection, learning, celebration and culture.
When our external lift broke beyond repair, it posed a serious barrier for wheelchair users, older community members and anyone unable to use the stairs.
Thanks to this appeal, we’ve been able to move forward with installing a brand-new lift and restoring step-free access throughout the building.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible
This appeal was powered by collective effort, creativity and generosity. We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, fundraised, attended events, bought raffle tickets or supported the appeal in other ways.

Looking ahead
