Clear masks for all
During the pandemic, we’ve been campaigning to raise awareness of the importance of clear face masks.
Why clear face masks?
This year has been tough for all of us. But it’s been especially tough for deaf people. We’ve all had to adapt to new safety measures, including wearing face masks to help keep everyone safe. But fabric masks present real barriers to deaf people. Many deaf people rely on lipreading and facial cues to communicate.
But there is a clear solution – clear face masks. By wearing a clear face mask, you can prevent unnecessary barriers and help improve communication for deaf and hard of hearing people.
We’ve been campaigning for The Scottish Government to invest in clear face masks, so that lipreading and communication is made easier for deaf people.
How can you help?
You can wear a clear face mask! Deaf people in your community will greatly appreciate it. Find out where to get them here.
You can also write to your MSP to encourage them to invest in clear face masks. And you can donate to Deaf Action to help us provide clear masks to those who need them.
