Salary: £39,678 (pro rata)

Who are we?

Deaf History Scotland (DHS) is a volunteer-led organisation founded in 2008 that is committed to preserving and documenting the history, culture, and activities of deaf individuals and organisations in Scotland as the caretaker of the Scottish Deaf Archive (SDA). The SDA is located on the premises of Deaf Action.

About you

We are looking for an experienced archivist with years of experience in cataloguing archives and artefacts, strong communication skills (including British Sign Language), strong computer literacy, working knowledge of using databases and knowledge or awareness of deaf issues and culture, including deaf heritage.

The role

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Cataloguing the Scottish Deaf Archive
  • Training volunteers in basic archiving and cataloguing skills
  • Engaging with young deaf people
  • Outreach work
  • Digital outreach work
