Join us for a very special presentation by the Director of the Karli Health Centre, Karli Dettman, on Thursday 12 September in the Blackwood Bar from 6pm until 8pm, as she explores the subject of deaf trauma and childhood developmental trauma.

Deaf trauma is a significant and unique trauma that is specifically related to deafness and affects a huge number of deaf people with early life deafness around the world. Karli’s presentation focuses on six key areas of deaf trauma including language deprivation, communication barriers, inadequate social interaction, educational delays, insufficient parental bonding and identity conflict.

Karli will also be joined by deaf UK comedian John Smith as they explore the concept of deaf trauma and strategies for minimising it for future generations. We will also be live streaming the event over on our YouTube Page so anyone can watch, wherever you are.
